Broccoli is rich in fibre as well as protein and it is a good source of vitamin A, potassium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, amongst others. It can be enjoyed in many ways; in soups or with pasta, steamed, fried, stir-fried, and much more.
This sun-loving vegetable is a cool-season crop that is best grown in spring or autumn.
Broccoli is easy to grow as long as you follow some simple cultivation tips. It prefers loamy, humus-rich and well-drained soils, but lighter soils also work. It needs to be watered in dry periods. As warmer temperatures inhibit its growth, it is best grown in spring or autumn. Later in the season, when the main heads have been harvested, small lateral shoots will keep growing which also can be harvested.
